03/03/2012 - Twice a year a major exercise is held on Salisbury Plain to prepare for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. As part of this a Forward Air Refueling Point is set up for the Helicopters involved to refuel, I positioned myself here for a couple of days and left with some fantastic images including some dramatic sunsets.

Welcome to Jcoombes Aviation My name is Jonathan and I m 35 and live in Ilchester, Somerset. Within this site you will find photographs of military and civilian aircraft which I have shot all over the UK at various events, bases and also from the Salisbury Plain exercise area. My main passion in aviation photography is to photograph military aircraft in the low flying exercise area LFA7 in Wales, there is nothing that beats the thrill of a military jet hurtling past you at speeds in excess of 450mph and at around 250 feet and capturing that perfect sharp shot, a skill that takes a lot of practice and patience.

24/03/2012 - A place on my list to visit for a few years was RAF Brize Norton, and with the Vickers VC-10's due to retire soon I thought I better get myself up there. I was not disappointed with a single VC-10 circuit bashing for most of the day. I was also lucky enough to photograph a couple of Tristar's and C130's also.

21/04/2012 - My latest trip out was to the Mach Loop on the 16th April, I have been waiting to catch the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle since my first trip in February 2009 and this was the day for it to happen. The Eagle came through at around 10:30am and gave me six fantastic passes.

10/05/2012 - This was my first visit to one of the RAF Northolt nightshoots, it was a very damp night but with three Typhoon's, a HS125, Police EC145 and two A109's the rain did not deter me from visiting. The star of the meet was the special painted 3 Sqdn Typhoon in its splendid anniversary markings.
